Welcome!

As I embark on this "blogging" adventure, I invite you to come along as I go about my everyday life.  I would love to introduce you to my flock of wonderful hens, who not only provide me with fresh eggs, but in the last 8 years have greatly increased the quality of my soil, not to mention the enjoyment one gets from just being in the presence of these dear creatures.  You will also meet Josette and Max, my two French Bulldogs as well as an assortment of other finned, feathered, or furry friends.

This is Max my 7 year old male Frenchie.

Please meet Josette my 8 year old Frenchie.

Max and Josette

With permission from my quilters, I will share the beauty of their work as I join fabric and thread into warm memories.  If you have never seen a longarm quilting machine then I am certain you will enjoy the post.

At this time of year my mind (well really on the day after Christmas) turns to gardening.   Hopefully this week I will be able to begin my early seedlings.  One of my goals for this spring is to create a cold frame.  I have been collecting old wooden window panes just for this purpose.  I compost kitchen garbage that I would not throw into the hens in a compost tumbler.  Items that the hens enjoy get tossed into a compost bin in their enclosed yard.

Past gardening success-let's hope for the same this year!

As I close for this evening I do so with excitement and anticipation of what we will share and learn from each other.  So let's garden and shop for antiques together.  Along the way we may discover a new quilting technique....longarm quilting.  We can sit beside the koi pond and listen to and watch the hens as they chase bugs.

  1. Yay!! It's nice to see you up and running!! I love your blog and look forward to future posts! I am not able to have chickens where I live, but I have raised them in the past and hope they are in my future. I could just sit and watch them them cackle to each other and scratch and peck....they are so relaxing and oftentimes comical as well. Your Frenchies are sweet! Nan2
